Enhancing Education with Agile Methods: Our Experience at the Freinet School Conference

Feb 27, 2024

Gathering in Belgium for the annual Freinet school conference was an exhilarating experience. Surrounded by the enthusiasm of over 300 educators, we embarked on a journey to explore innovative ways to enrich education through Agile methods.

Our focus was on Agile4Collaboration, a project designed to infuse the principles of Agile into teaching practices. At the heart of our discussions was the concept of Agile Boards, which act as powerful tools to streamline teaching processes. We introduced attendees to simple yet effective techniques like Kanban, Gameshifting, and CBM (Collaborative Business Modeling), offering practical insights that can be easily implemented in the classroom.

Excitement filled the air as we unveiled our latest creation: the Agile4Collaboration Handbook. This comprehensive guide is tailored for educators seeking to embrace Agile methodologies, providing them with step-by-step instructions and valuable resources to support their journey towards collaborative teaching.

What truly made the conference special was the sense of camaraderie and collaboration that permeated every session. Educators from various backgrounds came together to share their experiences, exchange ideas, and lend support to one another. It was heartwarming to witness the genuine connections forged and the collective dedication to improving education.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Freinet schools and De Freinetbeweging for organising such a remarkable event and inviting us to contribute. Their commitment to advancing education is truly inspiring, and we are honored to have been a part of it. We also want to express our appreciation to all the educators who participated in the conference, contributing to the vibrant exchange of knowledge and ideas.

As we reflect on our time at the conference, we are filled with optimism for the future of education. By embracing Agile methodologies and fostering a culture of collaboration, we can create learning environments that are dynamic, engaging, and inclusive. Together, we have the power to transform education and empower the next generation of learners.
